FAITH Without Works Is DEAD

First blog post! I'm super excited about this.  My thought for today is the following:

Book: Living By The Book

Author: Howard G. Hendricks & William D. Hendricks

Topic: Openness to study the Bible

Quotation: "Scripture does not yield its fruit to the lazy. If you are making exciting discoveries that you never knew existed, if the process is making a real difference in your life-you will likely find time for it.  I'm hoping that this book will help you get started in a productive effort so that time becomes a price you willingly pay in light of the benefits."

Thoughts: This is crazy! I have always used the excuse, "I don't have time to" or "I didn't feel like it".  But recently, I have been getting into the Word more because of the stories I have read in the Bible.  The stories I have watched as a movie.  To actually read the TRUE stories and not the sugar-coated one, it keeps me coming back for more.  Not only am I interested in the stories, it's the literature as well.

Statistics show that 70% of "Christians" have not read the entire Bible.  I refuse to be part of that statistics, but I want to know God and know His word.  I have prayed for the desire to be on my heart and I feel Him working in me to be disciplined and obedient to His word by getting into His word.

When I was in Christy's and Anna Lee's small group, we have 2 Timothy 3:16-17 as a memory verse for a week.  Then, I did not fully understand the meaning of this verse, but I understand the importance of it now.

"All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work."

Right now, I am reading God's word to know my Heavenly Father and to grow spiritually.  It's such a freedom to be in the presence of the Lord and to be filled with His spirit!  Funny how God put something in my life a while ago and now I'm truly grasping the true meaning of His word to me.

So, every week I will post a blog.  It won't be everyday, but I am excited to share my thoughts about the things I will learn at school this semester! =)
